Overview
We offer a design service for small and large gardens, and parts of gardens. We have a combined font of knowledge that cover hard and soft landscaping, planting schemes and restoration of mature gardens. Our work can be tailored to your specific needs and budget.
After an initial first site visit, and possibly a measuring session, we would produce a first set of sketches to scale. When we have agreed on a design, we would then draw up detailed drawings and plant lists, and if needed, costings, work schedules etc.
Any site maps, earlier drawings or photos are always a great help, and can cut down on our working time.
Ylva Blid-Mackenzie
Ylva is a landscape architect trained in Sweden and Denmark. She has also worked in England, Germany and Finland.
In her designs she works with plants from Madrona Nursery and draws on knowledge and experience gained there over the years.
Our services
We undertake many different types of work. These include:
- Site visits
- Measuring on site, and the drawing of site plans to scale
- Sketches and designs to scale
- Planting schemes and plant lists
- Drawing up plans and elevations to scale
- Supply and sourcing of plants
- Laying out plants on site
- Supervision of work on site
- Maintenance consultation for both new and mature gardens.
Price structure
Our hourly fee is £40.
For an initial site visit we will charge 1 hour’s work plus travel expenses. After that we are happy to charge an hour rate, or offer a fixed price, should the customer prefer it. Larger projects are always initially costed for estimated work times, and here an hour rate would apply.
Typical prices:
- Single border: £150 - £200
- Re-design of part of medium-sized garden: £500
- Design of whole small garden: £700 - £800
- Design of whole medium-sized garden: £1200
Larger projects differ widely, and can not easily be compared.
